8.5 FRANCIS MARION PAUL (1833 - 1877)
is your 2nd great grandfather
daughter of 8.5 FRANCIS MARION PAUL
daughter of 8.4 MARIAH ELIZABETH PAUL
daughter of 4.3 Grace Lillian Smith

There are several Francis M Paul.  The trail gets really muddy because other trees at ancestry have William Paul and Margaret Green as his parents and this can't be since William Paul and Margaret Green Married in 1843 in Indiana.

Francis Marion Paul also states in his Civil War papers states his birth in St Charles, St Charles County, MO.  This same Paul's record show him dead by 1890.  I will need to pursue this more to really prove his parents.  No problem proving Mariah as his daughter.

4.6 JOHN SMITH Sr (1775 - 1847)
is your 3rd great grandfather
son of 4.6 JOHN SMITH Sr
son of 4.5 John G Smith Jr
daughter of 4.4 JOHN CLINTON SMITH
daughter of 4.3 Grace Lillian Smith

Well as everyone knows there are many John Smiths.  I have proven so far the above but the next one is George Smith and I have him with 2 spouse with families at the same time so stopping until I can sort out which Smith is married to whom.

You may have noticed that there are numbers appearing before the names.  I am trying to get a grasp on the Numbering System Ancestral Lines.  It seems easier to associate who belongs to who.  And of course all my 1st cousins, children of Elmer "Bud" Delong" can substitute Ruby's name for his.

Sunday Reflection

Sunday Morning

A bit of reflection.

  • Started a page for Links.  Not just any links but links that I fall upon in my search.  Not to compete with Cyndi's List (her link will be at the top because she is the SOURCE).  I will also put a comment on what led me to it and what I found useful.
  • I am mailing my BCG Application all completed and money order in envelope.
  • I went to the Family Search here in Springfield yesterday but they were closed for remodeling.  Ok so I will regroup.
  • Still need to get things together for the research trip.
  • Will post this afternoon what I have already and where I have ran into problems in proving my main Delong line so I can get one more generation proved when I go to Salt Lake.

A few more finds today.

http://ancestortracks.com

A great find.  Looking for the Family History Resource File Viewer (which I never found), I did run across this site Ancestor Tracks.  Probably found this because some Delong ancestors were some of the first settlers in Berks County, PA.  Poked around and found

1860 Landowner Map
In Long Swamp Township settled 1734 and was Incorp May 1761 from Rockland township
F. De Long
Pr. Delong
Mich Delong

In Maxatawny Township
Dd Delong
Francis Delong
Mrs Delong

In Rockland Township no settled date but formed in 1758 from Oley Township
D Dlong
J n Delong
Francis Delong
F. Delong

http://usgwarchives.net/pa/berksp/twps.htm also has these township maps plus info on settlement and Incorporation dates.

Sooo...wonder where I can find any land records prior to 1860.  Guess I will look around.

Also see that when Aunt Wanda died (that was 29 Oct 1921 she was 4 days old) her death certificate lists Elmer as born in Paris, Iowa.   Guess we'll find out if that is Paris, Linn, Iowa or is it Paris TWP in Howard County Iowa

That's it for Now
